The Good... The Bad.... And the STICKY!

So let me break it down like this!

THE GOOD...

Well some of you may have heard it on my Facebook post, but yesterday my sweet son ate grilled chicken for the first time, it may not sound like much, but to a mom of a 5 year old boy who only eats chicken nuggets, fruit and PB&J's this was VICTORY! He has issues with harder textures so this was a definate win for our family!

SO now the Bad.... and oh is it BAD!

Here is one of my Layouts for Bad Girls, I have added a slide show of my DT work at the bottom of my blog, but by posting these individual posts, it helps for those who want to be able to see detailed pics. Here is the layout called Curious Boy. I hand stitched the rain drops, added paint, stickles and of course cardboard, and VOILA... one of my most favorite layouts to date! I based this page off of a sketch that Kara did over at Bad Girls. Check them out if yo uget a chance, this months kit is Totally spring and Sooooo much fun!

You may have noticed that I added another design team to my list, I was asked a few months back by Kerri over at SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L if I would be interested in joining their DT, and well since I already use their goodies anyways, I said OF COURSE! I am seriously pinching myself with the wonderful companies I am so very blessed to work with!

SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L is my absolute favoritist (and yes this IS a word, I have been using it since the second grade!) in the whole wide world!!! They rock with the versatility of adhesives that they offer. Take a look at their site when you get a chance, they also have an online shop now that you can purchase from and all sales are directed to retailers, so the sales are not taken away from the retail market. My goal with SA is to show how you can use their adhesives as art mediums rather than just sticky stuff you use to scrap with. I am on a quest to show EVERYONE how to wear their adhesive on the outside! Believe me, you'll love it!

So if you didn't guess... that was the sticky... although it could qualify as the good too!

thanks for peeking in today!

RAK- HOPE for Autism

This is my Hope for Autism...

I am very blessed to have a son that is on the Autism spectrum. And although he is considered to be on the spectrum, it is with a full and promised heart that I look at him and see potential. Sawyer is on the lighter side of Autism (he falls under the diagnosis of PDD-NOS) and as I look at him, I see future, promise, prosperity, hope. I can not look at my son and not wonder about his future, what he will endure, what he will face, but what I do know is that he is held in the hands of God, and I know that God never sets us up for failure and that through Christ, we can do ALL things. I love this boy, and he has shown me so much more about myself that I never thought I could handle, being Sawyers mommy has made me a fighter, and warrior, a conquerer and even more so an advocate, his advocate. This month being Autism Awareness month, I really want to share my blessings of being a mother of a child on the spectrum (believe me I am blessed, there are so many other parents of Autistic children, who NEVER hear I love you from their child) with you all, and I would really love it if you all could join in with me to offer hope to those who are effected by Autism.

This month (every Monday) I am offering a completly random RAK ( I will random.org one winner) of various scrapbook stash items to anyone who posts a reply to that mondays thread. When you post, I would love to hear a story of your own of how you are effected by Autism (just about everyone knows someone who is diagnosed with Autism), or if you would like you can add a link to an Autism site, or even give an Autism statistic. All the info is out there and all it takes is one moment of your time to google Autism, believe me it will be worth your minute of research 9your heart will thank you!). I will continue this every monday through April. my goal is to not only help all of my friends become more enlightened by info about Autism, but also to move in your hearts such a worthy cause.

I also have the winner to last weeks RAK for my first sketch over at Bad Girls Kits.

Thank you all for being my soundboard in life. I originally started this blog on a whim to record my families up and downs, and well many a time, I have found typing about Sawyer on here therapeutic.
thanks again!

Day two of firsts...

Today was Sawyer's first official day of pre-school. He was very upset with me because I wouldn't let him wear his red crocs to school. he kept crying for his "red shoes". I finally was able to get him excited about going to see Mrs. Lewicki after bribing him with a few M&Ms. When we got there he was heartbroken because another little girl had taken the #5 which was his # during summer school. With his delay he doesn't take change very well so it really threw him for a loop. regardless, I was able to capture a few precious moments. Here they are to share with you all.

Dream Team

Here is a last minute SOY LO. this was a pic taken at our last team meeting with Sawyers ABA therapy team. it was bitterweet. On one hand we were excited to begin normalcy. But on hte other hand it was so sad to say goodbye to the people we had grown to love. they came 5 days a week for 6 months and 3 days for the last 4 months. It is a beautiful thing to know that your child is an overcomer, and is a testiment blessing. we still have our struggles and are entering a new phase and season of Sawyers Diagnosis, but he will make it! I just know it! every step we take is in the right direction. So for now we keep our eyes up and hopeful. All supplies were technique tuesday {stamps, ink and tiles}, crystals are swarovski, paint is MM.
thanks!

speed bumps of moments

As a mother I am often faced with little trickles of clothing that my kids have shed. on this day the kids had just come home from school and as normal off came the clothes. Everyday I am reminded of just what a wonderful jewel Sawyer is. last year he had no clue how to take off his (shoes or even what shoes were for that matter). Through therapy he has come such a long way. this layout depicts the miracles that we often pass up on our day to day or that we forget in the hustle of life. This particular day I was up to my ears in SOY projects and looking for a few good ideas, but nothing rang out. I began to pick up after the kids and started with the same old monotonous routine. And there they were, sawyer's shoes. I went to pick them up and was suddenly stopped. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of pride and love for Sawyer. here were his shoes in a cute little pile right in front of the door and COVERED in sand. I cried a little and laughed at the cute little size 8 DC's. How many of these cute little monuments have I passed up or forgotten? I am blessed and everyday I am reminded through little thins like this that I am overwhelmingly loved by God and taken care of even in my turmoil. When I found out that sawyer was going to be different I was devastated, but God has held true to his word and each day I am gifted sweet little miracles like these. glimpses into the true purpose of my children. So this Layout is to remind me to stop and take in the moments of life and cherish the gifted miracles I am given. I love the hand made goodies on this one, and it was one of the easiest supply list of all my SOY projects!
thanks for looking!
