California here I come!

We are slowly but surely getting settled into our new place here in Colorado. We got here just in time for a beautiful fall. The leaves are turning such beautiful shades of yellow, orange red and purple. The last few days have been super windy. Although we came from the home of the Santa Ana winds, these winds are far more furious. What is surprising us the most is the wild life right out side our window. Behind us is a small farm that raises horses. There are always beautiful horses for the kids to look at. Here is a pic (again from our backyard, and YES our neighbor does have a log cabin in their yard!) of not only a squirrel, but a squirrel with the worlds longest tail. Seriously, it reminds me of the squirrels on Snow White that help her clean house with their long tails.

And since we are setting world records with our wildlife, I might as well share with you the worlds smallest snail that we found as we were leaving Wendy and Kyles house the other day. It could fit on my pinkie finger and was translucent. So we brought it home and I was able to snap this cool shot. This pic I did a overlay/screen effect to bring out the greens.

Every morning these little fellows come out and try and find breakfast in the horse field behind us. Needless to say our cats have become indoor cats (they are NOT happy about that). I had never seen an actual fox, let alone 3 before so this was kind of cool. They never come into our backyard and are only out in the early morning or late afternoon, so we don't really have to worry about them and the kids (we still stay with the kids when they are outside just in case). As cool as they are, they are definitely not the whole Fox and Hound kind of foxes... If only all animals were as nice as they are in Disney movies.
So as you can see slowly but surely we are adjusting. Such a dramatic whirl wind change and through it all we are blessed. There have definitely been struggles, but at the end of the day we couldn't ask for more. There are times when me and James just sit in the silence of the house after the kids are down for the night and think out loud, "whoa" we are actually IN Colorado. I don't think it will ever make sense to us just how God moves or how he had planned for us to be here at this time, but all we can do is give thanks and know that his will is perfect, and although the struggles never end (I am sure the word life, MUST mean struggle in some ancient language) neither does our joy. It abounds each day reminds us just how lucky we are.

Well before we had moved here I had planned to teach at the Ontario Scrapbook Expo. If you are going check out the classes (I will try and post some pics this week). I would love for you to come by and say hi!

While I am in the area, I am stopping by Scrap N' Yap to teach this coming Wednesday. This is one of my favorite stores to teach at (the girls there are just wonderful!) I will be teaching this fun Album and a free bonus class (if you sign up for the album class and buy two bottles of Glimmer Mist). There are only TWO spots left, and of course I will be bringing ALL of the Glimmer Mist colors available, PLUS some super fun prizes to give away! Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think!

You can call the store for details:

Scrap N' YaP

830 S. Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016.

I hope to see some of my friends from California this week. Even if you are not coming to scrap, stop by the store or the expo to say hi!

See you soon!

Better late than never...

(picture from the road, somewhere in northern Utah)

I can't believe it has been a month since I shared our move with everyone. Well as promised lots has happened in the past month. We are now in Colorado (yeah!!!!) and we are finally starting to settle into our house. Things have been going by so quickly which usually means that we are getting a lot done. We drove to Colorado via Nevada, Arizona (for like one minute) and Utah. My parents were gracious enough to travel with us which made it a lot easier. Oh and we took the cats too... totally not recommended...

Here are a few pics from the road, I know they don't even begin to describe the beautiful views that we experience.

Here is a BEAUTIFUL red barn, I think I might be a little obsessed with them because I am now scowering Colorado for an old red barn to take pictures at. This one just caught my eye, I love the way the lens caught the motion in the grass.

This little guy (and a few of his chipmunky friends) were out to play as we stopped at a rest stop/viewing stop in Utah (where I took the picture on the red rocks above) I had never seen a chipmunk before (besides, Alvin his brothers and Chip and Dale) So I was surprised as to how small they actually are. This was just a glimpse of the wildlife we saw on the road. The most rewarding sighting was all the deer we say, we saw 24 in total... ya don't see that in California that is for sure!

It was nice for the kids to see such beauties of nature!

During our mad rush to get to Colorado (we left California on Thursday the 28th and arrived on Saturday the 30th) we had just a few days to prepare the kids for school which had already started and they were joining on the 1st of September. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay with Wendy and Kyle (the owners of Tattered Angels) while our house was beng prepared for us.
(the kiddos on Wendy and Kyle's doorstep, first day of school shot)

We moved into our house on the first, although our stuff didn't move in till the 4th... that is a whole other story! Our moving truck was supposed to arrive on the 1st and didn't arrive till the 4th which means we had to mad scramble to buy the essentials and stuff for the kids for school. Needless to say it was tough, but going through that week was such a blessing our family as we ALL had to remain calm and work together to make things happen. I look at this picture of my kids which is the same pose we do every year and I laugh because it isn't even our doorstep, yet the kids are so excited for their new journey. So I won't bore you with the details of the journey here, at the end of the day the fact that we are here healthy, happy and willing is all that matters. We are still just as excited as when we left California and look forward to what lies ahead for our family.

With that being said, you would think I might stay home and rest for a bit, Nah!

Tattered Angels has been invited to participate in Scrapfest for Archivers. This is a fun, fun, fun event and I look forward to seeing some of my friends (and maybe even you to if you will be there!). Myself and Vicki Chrisman will be teaching classes as well as the rest of the staff will be demoing our product in The Mall of America Archivers as well as offering around the clock make and takes in our booth. If you are in the area, definately make it a point to stop by and say hi, I would love to meet you or see you again.

I will be home for a few weeks and then be of to California again to teach and demo at a few Scrapbook Expos. I will be teaching 6 classes at the Ontario show and then demoing at the Sacramento show. Check out their website for details or email me at liz@mytatteredangels.com

While I am in southern California, I am stopping by one of my favorite stores (Scrap N' Yap) to teach a few classes. The featured class is a Halloween Flip Album that is STUFFED with product and techniques. This is a class that you just can't "resist". There is so much fun wrapped up in this class, I just can't wait!

As a BONUS to all of those in attendance to the album class, I am offering a FREE class the hour before. All you need to do is purchase 2 bottles of Glimmer Mist at Scrap N' Yap and you will qualify. This class will use some of the extra product from the Album Class and Alter the box that the kit comes in. This box will act as a Ghoulish Treasure Chest, for all of your Halloween treats, or you can use it to store you album in too! It is a great little box for holding all of your Halloween candy in too!

And like the pictures says, BEWARE: CLASSES KNOWN TO CAUSE CREATIVITY...

I promise to get your creative juices flowing and have fun too!

Well this post is well worth a months worth of information. I guess I should stop for now. I am sorry that my CHA pics haven't made it up yet, I am hoping to get them up soon... well if I can find them! I also emailed Aimee for some pics of the Graphic 45 booth, I had ambitious endeavors to take pics of ALL of CHA, but really??? who can remember!

I hope this post finds you well and in high spirits, just remember it could always be better, yet it could also always be worse!

XOXO

This weekends events!

So this post is going to be a bit lengthy, but I wouldn't want you all to miss out on a totally awesome National Scrapbook Day!

I have compiled a list of what I know will be going on this weekend for National Scrapbook Day. First things first... I will be in two places at one... literally! I will be doing a video tutorial/class on the Bad Girls Kit site. Check it out if you are going to be spending your weekend at home. I also will be providing some giveaways for those who participate. The DT girls have been working VERY hard over there, so stop on by and say hi, they will make you feel right at home!
I will also be teaching two classes at the San Diego Scrapbook Expo on Friday night. If you are around come by the booth I will be demoing friday and saturday. Here are the classes. The first is an aquaboard using glimmer mist, screens and ribbon.

The second is a triptic Beach party bingo display. This will be using the Brand new Bingo and Calling card set from Tattered Angels. I am really excited about these cards, they are made with a heavy duty cardstock and are absolutely adorable. The are also a great value too!

Pre registration has closed, but if you are in for taking one of the classes, you can sign up at the door.

Ok, so I warned this one would be a biggie post. I will be gone most of the week, so this will most likely be it for the month. Just a reminder to post a comment to the Autism Awareness RAK thread here, also I am still hosting the Support your LSS RAK, just make a purchase at a local scrapbook store (non chain, so no michaels, joanns or stores of that nature) and email it to me by april 3oth. The reciept needs to be dated with in the dates specified (if you look back a few posts you will see the exact dates) but if you bought something in April you should be good. I will be doing the same thing again in May, so send me your NSD reciepts, the more reciepts the merrier, the more chances to win. I will announce that RAK next week though. And just remember, ANY purchase is appreciated by your LSS, just a little hello to show your support! Your reciept can be any amount, just show your store some love!

Any way... I will leave you all with a little sneak of next months bad girls kit. It is wonderfullly beautiful in an oh so vintage way. You might recognize a little 7 gypsies? Well I can't tell you everything...but I can tell you that you will LOVE it!

Tattered Angels and Prima Blog Relay- RAK

It's time again for another Tattered Angels and Prima Blog relay! This time... it is my turn (for real this time!). For this weeks project I created a Love Story Journal for my Grandmother. My Grandfather passed away a few years back, and I often realize just how much I miss him. I can only imagine what my grandmother feels, so I created this journal for her to use to record any little moments that she may not want to forget. This is also a great way for my children to know a little more about them. For this journal I used the Tattered Traveler album. I used Creme de Chocolate, Creme de rouge, Wheatfields, Bronze, coffee shop, and Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist. For this pic you can see that I cut down the acetate that traditionally sits on top of the album. I really wanted to keep the back the beautifully misted chipboard, so I used the acetate as an accent. I also used the Creme De Rouge ephemera regal glimmer chips for the frame. The Prima embellisments totally give this album a beautifully elegant vintage feel.

Here are some close ups of the regal frame that I used, I layered it with stickles and then mist over it with wheatfields and Creme de rouge glimmer mist.

This is one of my favorite parts of the album. Since this album is using a vintage picture of my grandparents on their wedding day, I used two of the Tattered Angels pocket watch framed font alphabet chips and cut off the top of the pocket watch to create two rings. I misted with wheatfields and accentuated the embossing with Creme de Chocolate. I layered Prima Galaxy stars misted with Creme De rouge, prima rose buds and prima petite fleurs.

This is a close up of the title, I layered some of Primas new vintage print flowers and centered them with a regal FDL chip. I really like the idea of using hte flowers as a bed for embellishing rather than always centering them with traditional centers. I also cut out some of Prima's stitched paper and ruffled the edges with glimmer mist.
here are the other ladies who are joining in on this weeks blog relay.

Sneak peek pics of EXPO classes...

I was given permission to post some pics of the upcoming classes for the OC scrapbook expo, I have three album classes that will be offered a total of 7 different times. These are a little different than my regular classes as they will cover the basics of Tattered Angels products so we won't have time to go in to deep, but there still is a lot of techniques and products to play with.

Here is the link to the schedule and if you want to sign up. I am roomies with my bud Patty, so this should be fun!!!

I haven't recieved final approval on the black and white album yet, but I do have to say... it is yummy! So here are the Day at the Beach and Love Notes albums (which we will be using scenic route paper instead of MME due to availability), let me know what you think!
