My first sketch...and well another rak, why not?

I am so excited to share my first sketch for Bad Girls, here is the pic and the link, the link will show you a better quality pic and all the details. The site has some great sketches and well a whole lot of fun inspiration (bad girls style!)

So here is a little RAK to go with the Sketch:
again a totally random draw for winner, just use this sketch and create a project (anytype) inspired by this sketch and I will randomly award a winner a prize package from my Prima stash, a bit of flowers, lace and bling. Post a link to your project in this link. the deadline for this is April 5th. I will announce the winner April 6th.
I look foward to seeing what you create!
and of course, if you have any questions, feel free to email me at primadonnaliz@yahoo.com
thanks!

Kids do the darndest things...

Well every now and then I am totally caught off gaurd by my children. This week... well has been interesting and I though I would share with everyone. First we will start with my oldest.

He is in first grade but has the thought process of a 40 year old, in his class this week he was asked to fill out this questionnaire that asks how many things he would be able to do with $100. Now his responses are a little tough to read, but he go as follows:
First I would: Buy house supplies
Next I would: Buy a pet cat.
Then I would: Buy a bathtub
Finally I would: Buy clothes

These are not your typical 6 year olds answers!!! He is much to responsible for his own good, and what is so funny that he still totally acts like a young boy, his wisdom just cracks me up sometime.

Next (thanks to blogger mixing up my pics) is our three year old Daughter:

Now here is a picture of her baby doll that she picked out for her birthday this past December. We went to Toys R Us and she had to pick out just the right doll (they all looked exactly the same). After picking out the exact doll to take home, we asked her what her babys name was and she answered: "Ding Ding Dot Dot" . Yup, that is what she has been named and reffered to since day one, until this past week when I asked our daugher to pick up her baby (Ding Ding Dot Dot) and put her away in her room, our daughter looked me straight in my eyes and said that her baby was no longer a baby but was actually a robot. Yup, so here is the robot, ding ding dot dot.

Lastly is our middle son, and well this picture says it all... At Family night over at our sons Elementary, our middle child found this hat pinned to the bulletin board, and rather than to take it off and utilize it appropriately... he just stood right underneath it. I guess techniquelly he would still be considered to be wearing the hat (minor technicality).

Well that is my week of random oddities form the child side. Hope you get a kick out of them as much as I did!

RAK... Economic Stimulus, LSS style!

I think it is about time to stimulate the local economy, and since it is the season for taxes... why not put your refund to a good use? (and if you are not getting a refund...well this may be a good way to drown your sorrow! So I am bringing back the "Support Your LSS" RAK. This was very popular last year, and I really like the idea of trying to keep our local scrap market afloat. So here are the rules:

  • Make a purchase at your LSS any time between now (March 24th- April 30th 2009) any amount, multiple reciepts will count for multiple entries.
  • Subscribe to my blog via the feedblitz link to the left of my blog page (this is crucial so that I can email you when you win!)
  • All purchases MUST be made at a brick and morter non chain store, sorry the idea is to stimulate the local LSS's and I really would like ALL purchases to be from this type of establishment. So no Michaels, Joanns, Archivers, Hobby lobby... and such
  • After enjoying making your purchase please email me a copy of your reciept @ primadonnaliz@yahoo.com
  • the reciept must be dated in between the dates mentioned
  • I will then randomly pick a winner (maybe a few depending on the outcome)
  • The prizes will be stuff from my Prima and Tattered Angels stash. So it will be some happy scrappy goodness.
  • I will post the winners On May 1st (or by the 3rd since I am teaching that weekend) and email you if you are a winner.
  • From there I will mail your prize within 2 weeks.

Sounds simple enough? I hope but if for some reason you have any questions feel free to ask, just email me!

Looking forward to helping stimulate the economy, one scrapper at a time!

Thanks!

Tattered Angels Crafty Secrets March Mix Up - Week 4

So this is the final week for the March Mix up. This has been an absolute pleasure to team up with Crafty Secrets Heart warming vintage. Their product just works wonderful with the vintage victorian feel of Tattered Angels products, and well what doesn't go with Glimmer Mist?

So here is a little something that I came up with to end our adventures with Crafty Secrets. It is a little cowgirl plaque for that cow poke in us all!

To browse what the other ladies are up to, check out their blogs below!

Lisa Zappa
ALSO Check out both manufacturers blogs for some super cool giveaways!

Thanks for participating in our Mix up and I hope that we have inspired a little creativity in you all!

Hello 3...

Here is another layout of my sweet baby girl. This is using even more of my Bad Girls March Kit. With this layout I tried a few different things to make my product stretch, hope they help your creative mind start to crank.
Using decorative paper to create a frame, and using Prima Say It In Crystals (clear) to add depth to your frame
Using your foam self adhesive letters as a stamp.

With this layout I wanted to try and have fun, but my mad scientist brain never stops. I first started with the Prima patterned paper sewed some random stripes down the side and then split them open to reveal the cardboard that I backed the page with. After I slit it open I used water to roll the paper back and give it a curled distress look.

The frame

I free handed a bracket frame and cut out the middle. I then cut up some Prima Say It In Crystals and layered them around the frame. I then painted the crystals to match the frame. This gave the frame depth, and well I love textures!!!

The Flowers

Because the flowers were mostly pink and red, I used my never failing Glimmer Mist to alter the flowers to match my fancy. I then flanked them with the ever lovely Prima velvet leaves and created quilled vines with the Crate Paper ribbons. I centered my flowers with the extra crystals that I had from cutting them up for the frame. I took each individual crystal and cut it up, and layered them onto each other.

The Title

This is my favorite part!!! For this, I used the lullabye letters from American Crafts, to create the stamped look, I took the letters I needed and using repositionable tape by SCRAPBOOK ADSHESIVES BY3L, I glued the non adhesived part (the top) of the letters to a stamp block and as this left the original adhesived back portion of the letters exposed, I covered this portion with clear embossing powder so that I could stamp with the letters. I used paint to stamp with and the cool thing about this, is that you could still use the letters after you are done stamping with them, so again...adding another use for your product!

The outer frame

The outer frame is a combo of the decorative paper from Creative Imaginations and Prima's Flirty Little Secret paper line. I cut around the outer edge of the Prima paper and took the very outer edge of the decorative paper. I sewed them together. Lastly I randomly cut out leaves, that was a happy accident that well, I was trying out for another layout, and well it worked well for this one.

All the contents used for this layout can be found in the March Bad Girls Kit.
ALSO I was just linked from the Marks Paper Facebook site to a Marks Paper Giveaway, here is the link to the info on the givaway (two full lines of paper!) and also while your at it, check out the Facebook group.

I hope this crazy concoctions finds you well and you are having a great day!

Sweet Child Of Mine...

Here is another fun layout using my March Bad Girls Kit. I have been meaning to post all of the pics, but I wasn't sure exactly when I would be able to post them, so here I am...posting them now... better late than never... I will add the rest as I go (I think I only have a few left).
This Layout is of my sweet child. Although she may look like daddy, her fiesty spirit is all mommy. I say right she says left, I say here she says there... She is argumentative, but in a good way, she keeps me on my toes and well I love every minute of it because she reminds me of when I was young. I only hope that her independent spirit remains and that this world will embrace her strength.
The technical scoop:
For this layout I took the box that my kit came in a cut out a 12x12 piece of it, I then ripped and tore it to get my fun corregated look. I gesso'ed it with a paint primer and continued to layer my favorite colors of Glimmer Mist onto it, from there I inked the edges and brushed some fun colors of stickles along for a little sparkle (this is what I love to call the girly grungification of cardboard). I exacto'd out the frame to the Prima Flirty Little Secret paper and cut out hand drawn leaves and hearts to decorate my page. The flower is flanked with paper that I misted with glimmer mist, folded in half and cut fine slits into so that it framed the flower and added some much needed fluff around the flower (well the flower really didn't need the fluff, but I love the contrast of textures). Lastly, and seriously the coolest trick ever... I applied green stickles to the tops of the Prima Say It In Crystals, with the crystal on the bottom, it adds depth to the stickles and makes them look like set rhinestones.
Well I hope this has given you some ideas for you next project, I definately feel like a mad scientist sometimes...sitting in my scraproom...concocting schtuff.

Tattered Angels and Crafty Secrets March Mix up week 3

Upclose pic of a Crafty Secrets Bird, sprayed with copper Glimmer Mist that I used with embossing powder (the Glimmer mist works to adhere the Embossing powder). The copper Glimmer shines nicely with the UTEE on it!

Upclose picture of the flowers and kiddie with birds, All Crafty Secrets.

And thanks to Blogger, the full canvas pic is on the bottom, oh well! Here is the full canvas shot, I wanted to try and make sure to post it on time, so the pic may not be all that wonderful, but the upclose pics show the fun detail.

SO here is the low down on this canvas.

I took a blank 10x10 canvas and layered paint and Old Lace Glimmer mist over the entire canvas. I the use the brand new Tattered Angels Screen Prints Stamps (trees) to create my tree bed. I used tons of the Crafty Secrets images from their nature journal pad as well as their journal blocks to create a layered bed for my birdies to pirch on. The images were Glimmer Misted with Mustard Seed, Midnught Blue and Turqouise Blue, Coffee Shop, Latte and Auburn. I sprayed the blue bird with Copper and immediately moved it and applied UTEE on it. This created an enamel coat over the image that enhanced the shine of the copper Glimmer Mist. I love the little Fleur De Lis that is peeking out of the bottom, this is a great representation of how well Glimmer Mist works on various surfaces, even thought he Glimmer Glass is a slick surface, when you apply a thin light mist over the glass and allow it to air dry, it creates and even coat of Glimmer Mist over your embellishment that has a wonderful glimmery shine. The chips I misted with Olive Vine and I dried the and then rubbed them with the excess mist that was on my mat. I also ran a little ink across the top to intensify the ebossing on them. The title I used crackle accents over wheatfields to give it a nice sparkle with a broken glass look.

I Hope you enjoy this canvas as much as I do, thanks for peeking!

Here is a list of all the girls participating in this weeks mix up, take a peek and let me know what you think!

****ADD**** Just so you ladies know... the wonderful technique of using the glimmer mist to emboss with was introduced to me by the owner of Tattered Angels, Wendy Senger, so I can't take credit for it! Thanks for your positive words!
Thanks!

Home from Utah!

I'm Back!!! I was only gone for 36 hours and it feels like forever! I left on tuesday morning and came back wednesday afternoon, but boy did a lot go on furing that time! My first stop was to Provocraft to meet up with the Creativexpress.com team. We went to lunch and then returned to tape a few segments for Nth degree. The webisodes should be available on the Creativexpress.com site and Itunes sometime in April. W had tons of fun and the girls even took me out for an impromtu girls night out at the Training Table (I know I am totally simple, but I LOVED the idea of calling your order in on a phone! After that they took me to meet Archivers... I had heard so much about it, and FINALLY we meet. Last we went to the late showing of Twilight.... seriously could it be any better??? Here are a few shots from the trip, again thank you to the CX team for a great experience!

Utah State Capital, I am a sucker for architecture in B&W

The salt lake city temple, again a sucker for architecture!

If you'd like hop on over to my Facebook profile and see some of the other pics, mostly architecture, but some others are kind of fun.

Rawkin' like a bad girl...

My first Project is up on the Bad Girls Project 52 blog. Here is a sneak peeky. Click the link to see bigger pics and read a little about my inspiration. This past months kit Windsor Court is totally to DIE FOR! I could not stop thinking of different ways to work it. It is a whole lot of Prima, with some fabric, thickers, vintage pages, and even some custom Bad Girl cards. Needless to say it totally rawks! This project for p52 is geared towards redifining art, and well with this I took an old classic and gave it a whimsy update. check out the blog, and let me know what you think!

I am off to Utah for the next few days to tape a few segments with Provo Craft Style. All my bags are packed, I have cheesy magazines (thanks to my hunny!) and some unhealthy snacks... I will be back wednesday, wish me luck!

Till then,

Liz
